Philosophy remains in Banal too.

I am putting this blog in my day to day activities though it happened years ago.

It was during my 12th standard, last and final standard of my schooling. This particular incident happened without any expectation, I should say that it is still incredible that such a incident could happen at all by accident. The obscure place where the incident took place was a Barber Shop, very typical one.

With full of obsession about my preparation for revision test and life turner final exam, I managed to reach the shop to cut my overgrown hair and change my coiffure. The Barber was no philosopher.I have come many times to this shop.

It was Sunday then, usually during Sundays, he would be having many customers and was on that day too. After waiting for some time, I thought, I got my turn to have a hair cut. But before that, he was in need to cut hair for another customers. He started cutting the hair of the customer, doing his job he started to speak with a boy who was younger than me. In between his conversation something seems to have flashed in his memory, he started up, telling a story to the young boy.

The Story was about Lord Brahma. Being an Indian and a Hindhu by birth, have heard lot of stories about Deities. But, this one, I have never heard before, even it does not gets linked to any Indian Epics. It looks like it has been excerpted from Vedas or folklore.

The story goes like this,
"Once upon a time, Lord Brahma came to know that his life span was around ten thousand yuga, which stood greater than thousand yuga of Lord Shiva and two thousand yuga life span of Lord Vishu. Brahma got so conceited. He even adored himself for the long life span he had. Lord Brahma wanted to confirm that he is the only person who has such a long life span and he toured all the worlds to find whether he could find anyone who is having life span longer than him. He stumble upon a rishi(seer) on the way. Lord Brahma inquired how long is his life span. He said, "I do not know how long, I am going to live. But I do know that i would turn one yuga only when  all the hair of the rishi who is staying on the near by mountain falls". Lord Brahma, went to the rishi who is residing in the near by mountain, on the way he found that the mountain was fully covered by the hairs of the rishi. He inquired the rishi residing over there about how long it would take for a hair to fall from his head and how long is his life span. The rishi replied that "one hair from my head would fall when the rishi who is residing in the next mountain make a twist or contortion in his body and when the rishi makes seven twists in his body i would turn one yuga". Lord Brahma strolled down the mountain in order to reach the next rishi, on the way Brahma just recollected that huge hairs filling the mountain and tried to reckon how much yuga he would have lived and also about the earlier rishi. Lord Brahma was in astonishment on his way to next rishi. Lord Brahma crossed around seven mountains and at each mountain he found a rishi who were very humble and have lived mind numbing yugas. Lord Brahma felt ashamed about his conceitedness and went back to his work of creation."

After finishing the story, the barber said to the young boy, that there could be lot more people in this world who are above our position and at the same time without any conceitedness.

I got titillated, when the barber finished his story. I do not know why all the way the barber should say this story to the young boy and on that particular day and in that particular place. It seemed like all the universe have converged to say something to me.

I realized that there are people around us, who live in a modest life and in an occupation which we even don't revere. But the pure soul of each and every individual is enlightened in some way. Both the story and the incident was conveying the samething similar to me.

I cleared my glare mind, put up by the reverberating story and had a good hair cut and went back home, again cerebrating about my exams and making myself preoccupied with the tasks and plans.

P.S. - Though I have put the story as though i know, I have concatenated the gaps, I would like to know the real excerpt from where it has been taken and solicitously waiting to know more about it.

My Culinary Activity and The Art of Cooking

The Urge to write this post came to my mind when my cousin brother was constantly asking me to make "Milk Halwa" Sweet and he even moved a step beyond, and bought the ingredients required.

Cooking is a day to day activity which happens like all other normal activities we do. It may look so simple and escape our attention, unless if one recognizes the kind of activities cooking really involves.

I used to see my mother cooking in kitchen and always wondered what she is trying to do. Usually used to find her fighting with the vessels, cutting vegetable, lettuces and adding spices and other ingredients. It always looked like some gimmicks being performed and we even make provision for making such gimmick in a room allocated for it! -"The Kitchen".

My wonders about such culinary activities seems to have pushed me to take some opportunities to cook. It is not usual that people should wonder and get into some astonishment to involve in cooking. It is very normal, anyone can cook.

Preparing hot water, tea, coffee, milk and so, are not even considered as cooking, but without such activities, no chef would have even born. With the help of my mother, Even I started to prepare tea, coffee and learned to make potato chips and milk sweets. And slowly and steadily learned to prepare breakfast and lunch at least to survive individually.

If one scrutinize and zoom in, to look what cooking really is, one could come to a realization that it is a whole lot of science. It requires lot of patience and tenacity for a cook to understand and prepare plausible food that could be served. some times even the cook would require to placate for the mistakes. sometime, the cook would be in requirement to prejudice and marshal the changes happening while cooking.

Even with the advent of advanced technologies cooking remains as an art and tangible only to the cooking artist.

Refurbishing, Our untidy home.

Surprisingly today, I caught up with a thought to invent some time cleaning the room. It has been now quite some time, I and my cousins pushed our self to clean our house, a laborious job to clean hell lot of junk that got accumulated over a period of time. But today, it looked different to me. The Early morning was very chill and cold, it was raining outside. The splendorous beams of light peered the window glasses to create beatific pattern on the floor. Unlikely, our rooms were sordid to contort any newbie who would enter our house. There were whole lot of clothes to wash too.

One of my cousin brother too joined me to take up the mission to clean the room. It created a initial distort. Once I and my cousin started collecting and shifting our stuffs that was present scattered throughout our room, we were able to take the refurbishing process frivolous and trivial. With the spasm of energy, multitasking our self and with co-ordination, we targeted different rooms and stuffs to clean. Songs and music were always rejuvenating us and the consequence was heavy music out bursting from our system speakers.

Cleaning our hall and bedroom, did not took much time, but there was a profound work that required our attention, waiting in kitchen. Cooking was shelved sometime earlier. hence, putrefied and rotting food stuffs and dusty utensils pervasively bothering our minds. The melancholy did not withstand our synergy. We Washed all the utensils and refurnished them. We got exasperated physically but we remained mentally Energetic.

After taking some rest, we took heavy showers and once the rain stopped, we started out for our lunch. Our house looked clean and tidy, the mission accomplished. we even started kidding saying that we should have got snap shots of our rooms before and after.

In our raging busy city life, we have become intangible, and preoccupied with our working schedules. The ethereal beauty of early morning, peaceful transition from dawn to dusk, aesthetic ablution of rain and joyous and jubilant children don't even disturbs us. Obsessive work culture make life impossible to bring in zest and zeal to enjoy the nature and appreciate our surroundings. But, it will create immense pleasure and exultation, exalting our esteem which we revere, when we start inculcating the habit of rejoicing nature and our surroundings.

Skill, Knowledge and Talent
